Our volunteer driven chapter is active and involved all year long. Keynote Speaker – Sheila Taormina
Sheila Taormina made history at the Beijing Olympic games. Learn about the plan that enabled an ordinary person to achieve extraordinary results.
Ms. Taormina explains various performance tools and thought processes, including breaking paradigms,  establishing the keys to success, focusing on process, managing performance pressures, and more. (.1 CEC)
Public Works veteran Larry Lux will present a session on emergency management.  Mr. Lux is a Top Ten Leader and a Life Member of the Association. Larry is also co-founder of the Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network (IPWMAN), serves on the State of Illinois Terrorism Task Force, and has been associated with the FEMA’S Emergency Management Institute as a Public Works subject matter expert since 1985.
Additional Sessions include:  Asset Management Tools and Techniques; RETAP Consulting Engineers - Operational Reviews for cost-saving opportunities (MDEQ Program with with technical assistance from Consumers Energy and DTE Energy); Clean Energy Coalition Building & Fleet Case Studies; and Green Streets.

Michigan Chapter to Honor 2013 "Friends of Public Works"

Join us at our Annual Conference to honor Projects of the Year - Excellence in Public Works and "Friends of Public Works.

MPSI 2013 - September 15-20
APWA Michigan Chapter and the Michigan Public Service Institute Planning Committee invite you to attend the Twenty First Annual Michigan Public Service Institute (MPSI) to be held September 15 - September 20, 2013. Location:  Comfort Inn Conference Center in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

MPSI is a three-year training program that provides instruction expressly designed for public works supervisors, managers and directors. The MPSI course is divided into three one-week sessions (one week each year) focusing on training in public service and enhancing individual growth and professional development. The sessions are non-sequential and one may begin the three-year cycle at any time.
